Roxborough Park, Land and Water Conservation Fund Project No. 08-00419, Douglas County, Colorado
The Colorado Division of Parks and Outdoor Recreation is seeking a $589,000 matching financial grant from the Land and Water Conservation Fund program to acquire 402 acres of land known as Roxborough Park for the purpose of establishing a new State Park. Future development plans include trails for walking, hiking, horseback riding, a visitor/interpretive center with parking for 100 cars and some designated picnic sites. Included in the 402 acres is a corridor connecting the main park area to the Pike National Forest. The proposed action will have a minor impact on the environment. Future development of the park will cause some minor disturbance to the natural environment but would be confined primarily to the visitor/interpretive center area. Impacts related to park use are considered controllable and should not create any problems.
