The primary purpose of the proposed project is to replace the present Bayou La Batre River bridge and up-grade a portion of Alabama 188 through the city of Bayou La Batre approaching this bridge. Negative impact consists of the acquisition of additional right of way for the proposal and the dislocation of families and businesses. Positive impact includes the enhancement of transportation quality, highway safety, and possible economic growth.
