Design Section F001a: Branch Route. Subsurface Investigation, Fine Arts Building
Results of seven borings and six test pits made adjacent to the east face of the Smithsonian Institution Fine Arts Building along 7th Street N.W. in Section F001a of Branch Route are summarized. The purpose of the investigation was to provide additional information relating to the protection of Fine Arts Building during excavation of the lower level of Gallery Place Station along 7th Street. The report contains a revised geological section, sections through the test pits illustrating foundation conditions, logs of the borings and test pits and conclusions regarding subsoil conditions.
