Stabilised Compressed Earth Block Masonry
The characteristics of the masonry units and the mortar influence the masonryMasonry behaviour. The bond between the masonry unit and the mortar is crucial in imparting strength to the masonry, especially to resist flexure and shearShear stresses. Evaluating and understanding the characteristics of the masonry unit and the mortar is not enough to assess the strength of the masonry in compression, shear and flexure. This chapter is focused on understanding the bond development in the stabilised CEB masonry, assessing masonry bond strength, flexure and shear strength of CEB masonry. Compressive strength of stabilised CEB has been dealt in greater detail. The chapter ends with discussions on stress-strain characteristics of CEB masonry and the CEB masonry design.
