A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
Paillon River, France – Opportunities and Policies
Since 2004, the priorities for the Paillon River catchment area are specified in territorial coherence schemes and development plans. At a local scale, land‐use planning and water management are coordinated through SAGE (Schéma d'aménagement et de gestion des eaux). The Contrat de Rivière, a river contract established among local community actors, sets the guidelines to promote an innovative model of ‘eco‐territory’ and landscape preservation. These projects are an opportunity to counter landscape fragility in the river basin. This integrated approach is well structured within the territory and has led to the creation of Promenade du Paillon in the city of Nice.
