New AFGC Recommendations on UHPFRC: Chapter 2 – Design
In the field of ultra high performance fiber‐reinforced concrete (UHPFRC), Association Française de Génie Civil (AFGC)‐Sétra recommendations published in 2002 are considered as a reference for designing UHPFRC structures. In 2002, these recommendations relied on the French BPEL rules applied to UHPFRCs. The introduction of the Eurocodes was the opportunity to update and improve these recommendations, taking into account feedback on the former recommendations. This chapter provides a synthesis of improvements and new concepts developed in structural design including fiber orientation (K coefficient) and materials exhibiting hardening behavior. It also talks about the concrete cover adapted to UHPFRCs, shear resistance at serviceability limit state (SLS) and ultimate limit state (ULS), and shear between concretes cast at different times. Passive reinforcement anchorage length and load transfer for post‐tensioning anchorages is also discussed.
