Bridge piles driven by precision method
Manufacture and driving 21,000 lin ft of precast piling for 2756 ft slab and girder portion of highway bridge in Georgia; piles were cast on site, in 18-in. octagonal cross section, from 43 to 62 ft long; piles were driven by crawler crane equipped with 72-ft boom and handling leads 60 ft long; accurate spotting of piles was assured by use of specially designed timber template.
