The invention discloses a duplex steel track beam for a rubber wheel tramcar and a method. The duplex steel track beam comprises a first I-shaped section steel main beam and a second I-shaped section steel main beam which are used for supporting the rubber wheel tramcar. A distance between the first I-shaped section steel main beam and the second I-shaped section steel main beam is matched with the span of the rubber wheel tramcar; cross beams which are arranged in parallel in the transverse bridge direction are included, one ends of the cross beams are connected with the lower portion of the first I-shaped section steel main beam, and the other ends of the cross beams are connected with the lower portion of the second I-shaped section steel main beam; and a lower flat longitudinal joint is included, one end of the lower flat longitudinal joint is connected with the connecting part of one cross beam and the first I-shaped section steel main beam, and the other end of the lower flat longitudinal joint is connected with the connecting part of the other cross beam and the second I-shaped section steel main beam. The structure is light, the spanning capacity is high, and the problem that the economic span of a concrete track beam is small can be solved.
