To provide a horizontal member installation method which installs a horizontal member 3 between two columns in a horizontal (lateral) direction without performing an operation to form slits and a plurality of pin holes on both end surfaces of the horizontal member and performing alignment of the pin holes and like.SOLUTION: A horizontal member installation method comprises lifting the horizontal member 3 through rotation of a first fastening nut 14a when installing the horizontal member 3 between two columns 2 and 2 using: a screw rod 11 having a male screw part 11a formed on an outer peripheral surface thereof; a screw rod supporting fixture 12, to which the screw rod 11 is inserted, comprising a screw rod insertion part 12a and a back plate part fixed to the columns 2 and 2 with fixing members 15 such as nails and screws; a washer 13 with a female screw part to be screwed with the screwed rod 11, comprising a washer part fixed on the horizontal member 3 by the fixing members 15; and a first fastening nut 14a screwed on the screw rod 11.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 8
