POSITION DETERMINING SYSTEM
To provide a position determining system with which it is possible to reduce the possibility of the position of a portable terminal being erroneously determined.SOLUTION: A vehicle-onboard system 1 comprises a smart ECU, a vehicle interior communication instrument, an exterior right-side communication instrument 12K, and an exterior left-side communication instrument. The vehicle interior communication instrument is installed inside of a vehicle interior. The exterior right-side communication instrument 12K and the exterior left-side communication instrument are installed in such an attitude that, in the left/right side sills 42 of the vehicle, the center of directivity faces upward and the plane of polarization is perpendicular to the side face of the vehicle. As the above installation position and installation attitude are adopted for the exterior right-side communication instrument 12K and the exterior left-side communication instrument, a strong electric field area is formed in the vicinity of doors and an electric field level in an area 2 m apart from the vehicle is suppressed to a low level. A smart ECU 11 determines the position of a portable terminal using the received strength of a signal from the portable terminal by each onboard communication instrument 12.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 8
