To stop a door immediately before it collides with an obstacle and avoid collision with the obstacle in various situations.SOLUTION: An obstacle detection device according to an embodiment comprises an ultrasonic sensor signal processing part that detects at least a distance among a distance to an obstacle and a shape of the obstacle based on an output from an ultrasonic sensor that detects the distance to the obstacle within a predetermined detection range with ultrasonic waves and is arranged on a door of a vehicle, a camera image processing part that detects the distance to the obstacle and the shape of the obstacle based on an output from a camera mounted on the vehicle imaging an area including a trajectory range when the door of the vehicle is open and the detection range of the ultrasonic sensor, and a controller that conducts door opening motion control based on the detection result of the ultrasonic sensor signal processing part and the detection result of the camera image processing part.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
