To provide an information providing system configured to acquire actual meteorological information of a location where sunshade equipment is installed over a network, and an information providing method.SOLUTION: An information providing system includes a main server 50 having a first control unit, and sunshade equipment having a sunshade sheet, a frame for supporting the sunshade sheet, and a second control unit. The method includes: an acquisition step S1 of acquiring, by the second control unit, meteorological information of an installation location by means of a meteorological sensor 20; a transmission step S2 of transmitting, by the second control unit, the meteorological information acquired by the acquisition step to the main server over a network by means of a transmission unit; a storage step S3 of storing, by the first control unit, the meteorological information transmitted to the main server 50 in the transmission step; and server transmission steps S15 to S18 of transmitting, by the first control unit, the meteorological information stored in the main server 50 in the storage step to a terminal device 80 over the network by means of a server transmission unit.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 7
