Subsurface Investigation, Section L001, L'Enfant Plaza-Pentagon Route
Results are summarized of four borings made to investigate conditions on the line of a major sewer relocation in Potomac Park for construction of the Rapid Transit Structure in Section L001 of L'Enfant Plaza-Pentagon Route of the Washington Metropolitan Area Metro System. Studies were made to determine the subsoil characteristics that would be encountered where the sewers will be tunnelled under the RF and P Railroad embankment and roadways of Highway I-95. The report contains a geological section along the line of the sewers which shows the position of these borings, results of tests on undisturbed samples and a brief text summarizing anticipated design and construction problems.
