Capillary Coating Technique
Abstract Fields such as optical coating materials and laser technologies have significantly contributed to create a need for large optics with uniform, very thin coatings that are applied from liquid coating media. To manufacture these optics, coatings of sub-micron to few microns in thickness need to be deposited with extreme uniformity — to within a few percent — across the entire clear aperture, which can be on the order of a square meter in size.
